Reflections from the Teachings of the Ascended Masters® on justice, spiritual freedom, and the deeper meaning of true community

Philadelphia and the Story of Freedom

Philadelphia is a city deeply connected with the story of freedom. From Independence Hall to the legacy of America’s founding, the city carries a memory of courage, sacrifice, and the search for liberty. Yet in the Teachings of the Ascended Masters®, freedom is not only a political ideal. It is also a spiritual calling—a path of the soul, a responsibility of the heart, and a sacred opportunity to serve God and humanity.

K-17 and the Protection of Freedom

In a Pearl of Wisdom delivered by the Ascended Master K-17, we find a powerful teaching on freedom, justice, protection, and community. K-17 describes himself as “one of heaven’s gentlemen” and as one who serves the cause of freedom, gathering information that affects mankind and helping to prevent discord and destruction before it can take greater hold in the world.

His service is one of mercy and protection. He explains that his work helps bring protection to the people of earth by preventing discord before it is released into outer manifestation. He also speaks of working with beloved Cyclopea, the all-seeing eye of God, and Archangel Michael, Prince of the Archangels, to protect divine plans until they can manifest with dignity and cosmic grace.

The Higher Meaning of Freedom

This message is especially meaningful for those who seek to understand the higher purpose of freedom. True freedom is not simply the right to act as one wishes. It is the freedom to live in alignment with divine law, truth, justice, and the inner guidance of the I AM Presence. It is the freedom to serve the light and to help build a world where mercy, honor, and spiritual integrity can flourish.

George Washington, Saint Germain, and Divine Justice

K-17 also honors beloved Godfre, who was embodied as George Washington, calling him the true father of America. He honors Saint Germain, the God of Freedom, and beloved Portia, Goddess of Justice, for their assistance in the founding of the thirteen states.

This connection between freedom and justice is important. Freedom without justice becomes imbalance. Justice without love becomes severe. But when freedom and justice are united in divine purpose, they become a blessing to nations, communities, and souls.

The True Meaning of Community

One of the most beautiful teachings in this Pearl is K-17’s explanation of the word community. He reveals its deeper spiritual meaning as “come you into unity” and “come you into one-ness.” This gives us a powerful understanding of what true spiritual community can be. It is not merely a group of people gathered in one place. It is a sacred opportunity to come into greater unity with God, with one another, and with the divine purpose of the soul.

A Teaching Center as a Point of Light

For the Philadelphia Community Teaching Center, this teaching carries special meaning. A Teaching Center is more than a physical location. It is a place where seekers and students of the light can gather for prayer, worship, spiritual study, fellowship, and service. It is a point of light in the city where hearts can be strengthened and where the Teachings of the Ascended Masters® can help souls find greater understanding, healing, and direction.

The Bell of Freedom Within

K-17 reminds us that the bells of freedom ring not only in Independence Hall, but everywhere. This image is especially powerful for Philadelphia. The outer bell of liberty is a symbol, but the inner bell of freedom must ring within the heart. Each time we choose faith over fear, service over selfishness, truth over compromise, and divine love over division, we help sound that inner bell of freedom.

Freedom as a Call to Service

The call to freedom is also a call to responsibility. K-17 speaks of good faith and justice toward all nations and reminds us that true service can become a form of worship. When we serve with joy, humility, and love, our actions become more than work. They become offerings to God.

A Message for Today

Today, the need for true community is as great as ever. People are seeking peace, healing, purpose, and spiritual understanding. Many are looking for a place where they can pray, learn, ask questions, and grow in faith. The path of the Ascended Masters offers practical spiritual tools for transformation, including prayer, decrees, devotion, and the science of the spoken Word.

Philadelphia’s spiritual heritage invites us to remember that freedom begins within. It begins in the heart that chooses God, in the soul that seeks truth, and in the community that comes together in unity, prayer, and service.

May the flame of freedom continue to be anchored in Philadelphia and in every heart that seeks the light.
