A reflection on Saint Germain, the violet flame, Independence Hall, spiritual community, and the living fire of freedom
The Fire of Freedom Within
Freedom is not only something written in history books. It is a living flame within the heart.
In this Pearl of Wisdom, Beloved Saint Germain speaks with the fire of freedom and calls to the “patriots of the light of Almighty God.” He greets the people of America in the flame of liberty and reminds them that they are meant to be free — spiritually free, free in the heart, free in the mind, free in the soul, and free in the living Word.
This teaching invites us to look beyond outer definitions of freedom. True freedom begins within. It begins when the soul remembers its divine origin, chooses the light, and becomes willing to serve God with courage, joy, and purpose.
Let the Sparks of Freedom Fly
Saint Germain’s message carries a powerful command: “Let the sparks of freedom fly.” He calls for sparks of freedom to fly from the heart, from sacred labor, and from the inner altar of the threefold flame.
This is a beautiful image for spiritual seekers. Each heart contains a divine spark. Each prayer, each decree, each act of service, each sincere effort to choose love over fear can send forth a spark of freedom into the world.
These sparks may seem small at first, but spiritual fire multiplies. A single heart committed to God can bless a family. A group of hearts united in prayer can bless a city. A community dedicated to the violet flame can help anchor light for a nation.
Saint Germain and Independence Hall
This Pearl has a special connection to Philadelphia. Saint Germain speaks of the original fire of the Holy Spirit that enfired the signing of the Declaration of Independence and says that the mighty threefold flame still burns in Independence Hall.
For the Philadelphia Community Teaching Center, this is deeply meaningful. Independence Hall is not only a national landmark. In the teachings of the Ascended Masters, it represents a spiritual moment when courage, destiny, and freedom came together.
The signing of the Declaration was an outer act, but Saint Germain points to the inner fire behind it. He reminds us that the Word of freedom is not locked in the past. It lives in the heart. It must be expanded, expressed, and carried forward by those who love liberty and serve the light.
Documents of Liberty Yet to Be Written
Saint Germain teaches that “documents of liberty” remain yet to be written and signed by our own selves and our own pens.
This statement gives us a powerful spiritual question:
What declaration of freedom does my soul still need to make?
Perhaps we need to declare independence from fear.
Perhaps we need to declare independence from discouragement.
Perhaps we need to declare independence from old habits, limiting beliefs, resentment, or spiritual passivity.
Perhaps we need to declare our allegiance to God, to the I AM Presence, to the path of the soul, and to the flame of freedom.
In this sense, every seeker is invited to write a document of liberty in the heart.
Freedom from the Tyranny Within
Saint Germain speaks not only of outer tyranny, but also of the tyrants within the human consciousness. He calls humanity to overthrow the tyrant of rigidity in the mental body, hardness of heart, and the doctrines or dogmas that bind the soul to darkness rather than to light.
This is one of the most important teachings in the Pearl.
Many people think of freedom as something external. But Saint Germain shows us that some of the greatest limitations are within the mind, the emotions, and the soul. A person may live in a free land and still be bound by fear, pride, criticism, anger, confusion, or spiritual ignorance.
The violet flame is given as a sacred tool to help transmute these inner limitations. Through prayer, decrees, and sincere devotion, the soul can begin to experience a deeper freedom — the freedom to forgive, to grow, to change, to serve, and to become more of who God created us to be.
A Place of Great Encounters
Saint Germain also speaks of the Inner Retreat as a “Place of Great Encounters,” a place where souls may encounter God, the I AM Presence, the great teachers of light, and the path of spiritual community.
While this Pearl refers specifically to the Inner Retreat, the principle can also inspire every true spiritual gathering place. A Teaching Center is meant to be more than a room or a building. It is meant to be a place where the soul encounters truth, prayer, community, and the living presence of God.
At the Philadelphia Community Teaching Center, seekers are invited to enter a sacred space of worship, study, fellowship, and service. In that atmosphere, hearts can be strengthened and souls can remember their higher purpose.
A true spiritual community becomes a place of encounter — with God, with the teachings, with one another, and with the flame of freedom within.
Becoming the Living Retreat of the Heart
Saint Germain teaches that students are called not only to come to a retreat, but to become the living retreat of the heart. He speaks of assimilating the elixir of life and becoming, as a living church and community, the living retreat within.
This is a beautiful teaching for modern seekers. We may come to a church, a Teaching Center, a service, or a spiritual class for inspiration. But the deeper goal is to carry that light within us.
The heart itself can become a sanctuary.
The voice can become an instrument of prayer.
The home can become a place of peace.
The daily life can become a path of service.
The spiritual path is not limited to a sacred building. It is lived through the way we think, speak, pray, forgive, work, and love.
Proclaim Liberty Throughout the Land
Saint Germain echoes the great call to proclaim liberty throughout the land. He says that the bell of freedom should be the tolling of our own heart flame, resounding with the declaration of independence under Almighty God and the I AM Presence.
This image connects powerfully with Philadelphia and the Liberty Bell. The outer bell is a symbol, but Saint Germain points us to the inner bell — the heart flame.
When the heart is filled with divine love, courage, and truth, it rings. It sends forth a vibration. It blesses others. It becomes a witness to freedom.
To proclaim liberty today means to live in such a way that our presence brings hope, dignity, and spiritual encouragement to others.
Sharing the Teaching with Love
One of the most practical and compassionate parts of this Pearl is Saint Germain’s instruction on outreach. He tells students to come with the gift of the violet flame and to trust the violet flame to communicate itself. He warns against tearing down others through criticism and instead instructs students to let people feel loved, wanted, and important.
This is a beautiful guideline for any Teaching Center.
True spiritual outreach is not harsh. It is not self-righteous. It is not about proving how much one knows. It is about radiating love, compassion, mercy, tenderness, and the living Word of God.
Saint Germain reminds us that people are temples of the living God. They must be approached with respect and care. The violet flame, when offered with love, can awaken the heart naturally and gently.
A Brotherhood of Hearts
Saint Germain also speaks of brotherhood across nations and the need for hearts to form friendships that span countries and cultures. He calls for a divine interchange of hearts and for true brotherhood to be built upon the violet flame and the shared light of God.
This message is deeply needed today. The world is filled with division, separation, and misunderstanding. But the flame of freedom calls us to a higher vision — a world where souls recognize one another as children of God.
Spiritual community begins locally, but its love is universal. A Teaching Center in Philadelphia can serve the city while also holding a vision for the healing and freedom of all nations.
A Message for Philadelphia Today
Philadelphia is a city where the story of liberty still speaks. Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell remind us that freedom must be chosen, defended, and renewed. But Saint Germain’s message calls us beyond history into spiritual action.
The sparks of freedom must fly from our hearts today.
They fly when we pray.
They fly when we decree.
They fly when we invoke the violet flame.
They fly when we forgive.
They fly when we serve.
They fly when we welcome others with love.
They fly when we declare our independence from fear and our allegiance to God.
At the Philadelphia Community Teaching Center, this call continues through worship, spiritual study, fellowship, service, and the Teachings of the Ascended Masters®. Each seeker who comes with sincerity can discover that the flame of freedom is not far away. It is within the heart, waiting to be kindled.
May the sparks of freedom fly from every heart, and may the bell of liberty ring again through the living flame of God within us.
